Carriage House Gardens Celebrates Flowers and Art on Aug. 17
Kate Nordstrom Exhibits New Paintings During Open House
Mid-August is a lush moment in the garden season and Carriage House Gardens in Wiscasset, Maine, invites the public to an open house to celebrate the blooms and the equally colorful paintings of Alna artist Kate Nordstrom.
For several years, Carriage House Gardens, featuring furnishings for gardens and home, has been the summertime gallery for Nordstrom’s newest work. The combination of the store’s eclectic collections and the artist’s fanciful paintings have made for a stunning mix.
The shop’s offerings include viewing gardens, hand-made and edgy garden art, vessels of all kinds for floral arrangements, African market baskets, vintage porch furniture, and many other collectible items – all personally selected by the owner, Lucia Droby. Nordstrom’s dream-inspired paintings feature flying fish, dancing houses, lots of wildlife including diving bunnies, and meteor-filled skies. The color palette may be deep and bold or soft and soothing, but the artist’s style is unmistakable.
In addition to the visual banquet of art and furnishings, the evening also includes a menu of Nori rolls hand-made by local game designer Aaron Weissblum and chocolate-dipped macaroons from Mammy’s Bakery, the refreshing effervescence of peach sangria, and the sounds of David Lawlor playing jazz guitar.
For a delightful summer evening, drop in to ‘An Evening of Art and Garden’ at Carriage House Gardens, 62 Pleasant St., Wiscasset Village, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 5:30 to 8pm; rain or shine. FMI, visit www.carriagehousegardensmaine.com, email to email@example.com, or call 617-974-7720.
